Biofeedback computer-based technology measure the automatic activities of the body and displays the measurements in a form that the conscious mind can easily understand, either as visual or audible information. I utilize thermal, muscular and respiration biofeedback to train physical relaxation responses to pain/ stress.
The client through this new level of communication learns to sense and modify previously unconscious body functions. Our muscles tighten when we feel threatened, we gasp when suddenly frightened, our heart races when we are excited. Unknown to us, these natural responses, over time, can contribute to a number of physical health issues. Once the new subjective awareness and control is learned, the biofeedback technology is no longer needed.
Biofeedback is widely recognized in behavioral medicine hospital programs as an effective therapy for headache and stress disorders. (I.E., tension/migraine headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, stress -- related muscle pain).
This treatment is NOT to be confused with EEG biofeedback/neurofeedback. (My work is not brainwave training.)
